Gilles Rocha is a well-known Swiss music personality, known for his outstanding euphonium playing, teaching, composing and arranging. He teaches at the Conservatoire in Fribourg. This astonishing solo, with its huge demands placed on the soloist was composed for the young Swiss virtuoso Euphonium player Stephanie Gaspov for the Swiss national brass solo competition a couple of years ago. It is a real display work, suitable for the advanced player in a recital, concert even examination situation. Some extraordinary technical sections sitting side-by-side with some very beautiful sections in this 6.5 minute work. This work is also available with piano accompaniment on this website.
