Soliloquies - John Stevens - Unaccompanied Euphonium |
||
|
John Stevens wrote Soliloquies for euphonium soloist Demondrae Thurman. Since its premiere in October 2000, the work has been programmed on many euphonium recitals, has appeared on the lists for several euphonium solo competitions. One of the finest unaccompanied pieces in the literature, it should be a staple in any euphonium player’s repertoire.
In three movements, each movement present significant challenges for the soloist, in terms of intervallic leaps, wide intervals, difficult technical passges and extremes of range.
Highly recommended.
Here is a link to an interesting article on the work in the ITEA journal.
