Euphonism - Philip Sparke - Duet for 2 Euphoniums and brass band |
||
|
A real gem of a euphonium duet, not so well known as the famous Two Part Invention by the same composer, but really delightful and deserves to be heard a lot more.
It was commissioned by Brass Band World Magazine for Riki MacDonnell and Mike Kilroy, and exists just in this version for 2 euphoniums and brass band.
The subtitle is 'Te Hononga' - That meeting or friends from across The water.
It has a two-part structure (Lento/Fast in 6/8) giving each player the chance to play beautiful lyric lines and virtuosic playing. It ends slowly and with a beautiful mood.
