Dagnelies (1825-1894) became a pupil of Jean-Valentin Bender Whom he succeeded in 1873 as the conductorOf the wind band in Saint-Marie of Oignies.He lived and worked – Charleroi district of Northern France, composing and arranging many works for his bands including theme and variations solos for almost all wind instruments.He was a virtuoso cornet player and also wrote a method for cornet.This fantasie Is suitable for either ophicleide Paul bassoon. As far as we know it has never been used as a test piece. It consists of an introduction, theme and four variations.
