|
Georges Pfeiffer (12 December 1835-14 February 1908) was born in Versailles, into a family of piano builders. This solo, originally for trombone was used in 1899 and 1906 as a test piece at the Paris Conservatory. It was also used as a test piece in Belgium in 1906 and 1914. This Solo is freely constructed and, with its influences from Richard Wagner, harmonically rather adventurous for its time.
