Symphonic Variants - James Curnow - with piano accompaniment |

|
Here is James Curnow's iconic euphonium solo Symphonic Variants.
One of the core repertoire works for the euphonium and also one of the most demanding works ever written for the instrument, Symphonic Variants runs the gamut of technical facility, range, endurance, and power to project and balance. This superb work opens with a flourish of technique and runs to high c before presenting the lyrical theme. There are numerous ossia throughout the work that make the very high tessitura more accessible. The accompaniment parts are difficult and thickly textured and require a good pianist. This is one of the most physical works in the repertoire and one of the standard works frequently performed.
As recorded on Steve's Symphonic Variants CD, accompanied by the JWF Military Band. Duration approx 20 mimutes.
This version is with piano accompaniment, and solo parts in TC and BC. The full wind band score and parts are available also from the EuphoniumStore.
