Adagio and Allegro Op.70 - R.Schumann Arr. S.Johnson - Euphonium and Piano |
Schumann composed the Adagio and Allegro Opus 70 for Horn and Piano in 1849. In this work he explored some of the possibilities created by the invention of the valve system which made the horn a fully chromatic instrument. The valve system also brought in instruments such as the euphonium, which the Adagio and Allegro is well suited to.
This work has been arranged and performed by other instruments, for violin and cello, for example and more recently has been regarded as a highly popular work for tuba.
This work really suits the euphonium perfectly. Enjoy it!
